In history we are to write a DBQ on Lewis and Clark expedition states whether Lewis and Clark were respectful ti the natives they met. I learned from this that Lewis and Clark accidentally killed a native when these natives played with their guns. I also learned they offered trade to the Indians.
During history we talked about what happened after the Revolutionary war. I learned that after the war Washington was elected as president by the Electoral College. Washington choose 5 people to help him. But out of them all Hamilton and Jefferson always disagreed.
I learned in history that bills start out as ideas then get introduced to congress to see if it should move on to the next house to become a law. after a certain amount of votes it can move to the next house, after another vote it goes to the President to get approval signature. If he signs then its a law, if not it goes back to Congress (called a veto) and has to get 2/3 votes from both houses in order to override the veto if they want the bill to become a law.
Today we worked on our essay to answer "How the U.S. Constitution guard against tyranny?" To answer this we needed to chose which was the most important out of the documents. I learned that the 3 branches don't need to be so apart since if they were then if one of them did something wrong the others couldn't do anything.
We examined a letter send to a friend by Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was the one who took the main part of writing the declaration of independence. During this time Shay's rebellion occurs because of he taxing of land. Thomas writes this letter tell his friend that we should expect that things like this occur.
During history we received 2 documents. One was the Magna Carta" and the other was on what has happened and is expected from people to become king. I learned that the Magna Carta was rules to set for the king or queen to subject to the laws. I also learned that people argued to the king of the unfairness of judgment since all were considered guilty till proven innocent.
In class we reworded the Declaration of Independence (DOI) in third grade language. We did this since back when Thomas Jefferson made this they worded the words in a language that most of us wont understand since they used big/specific words to describe what they are saying. So our class wrote a 3rd grade version of it so third graders could understand this. When we did this we read the excerpts carefully examining every word to get the full meaning, then we drew pictures just to get a better understanding. Once we finished we typed a letter that was to the king since our teacher described the Declaration of Independence as a break up letter. After that we printed it out to see what it looks like, we wrote it in cursive on a separate paper since our teacher doesn't want us to forget how to read in cursive since that's the main thing they wrote in back in those times. I find that a fair enough reason since you know most documents from the past are in cursive not in print. The last part to complete our letter was to crumple our paper and drip it in coffee to make it look aged. I learned that after the 13 colonies separated from England they were not considered colonies they were now considered states.

In History we were working on our DBQ for our essays. We got a worksheet to help us set up the essay. Using our articles, charts, and graphs we put together our first draft in class. After we worked on our first draft a bit we did vocabulary. We studied a new word, and gave a short description on the word and a drawing. From this I learned why many people at Jamestown died so much. It water various reasons from dirt water to lack of food. During History we watched "America The Story Of US" During this film we were to take notes on what events lead to the Revolutionary War. The events that lead to the war was the Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre. The reason I say this is because when the Boston Tea Party occurred it lead to the Boston Massacre which during this event killed 5 colonists. I learned that the picture drawn about this massacre was inaccurate.
